If you have been injured by someone else’s negligence, whether in a car accident, slipping on a wet floor or from a doctor’s malpractice, you probably have many questions about your personal injury case. At Garber Law, P.C., we have been helping injured clients since 1986. We understand the law and the many types of personal injury claims that exist. Some of the more common questions we hear from clients include:
What should I do after a car accident?
Most of our calls come in after a car accident has already happened. Hopefully, you have gathered information at the scene of the accident, including the other driver’s name and address, insurance information and maybe even taken some pictures on your phone. The most important thing you can do, however, is seeking medical treatment for any possible injuries. Even if you think your injuries are minor, they can worsen in the days after an accident. Your next step is to schedule a consultation with our office to review your case.
How do I know if a doctor committed malpractice?
Doctors owe their patients a duty of care, and when they fail to meet that duty, people could become sick, injured or even die. Proving that a doctor failed in their duties requires legal experience, as well as proof that the doctor was negligent. That proof often comes from expert testimony. We are happy to discuss your case for free to tell you if we think we can bring a malpractice case on your behalf.
How much is my case worth?
This may be the question clients wonder about the most, but there is no set amount that a case is worth. That is because the amount of recovery depends upon many factors, including how seriously you were injured, how long it will take for you to recover and the insurance policy involved. We can often give you a general idea of possible recovery amounts after reviewing your claim.
What do I do if the insurance company denies my claim?
Do not lose faith simply because the insurance company initially denies your claim or only offers a fraction of what you deserve. Unfortunately, insurance companies often deal in bad faith by denying payment without reasonable grounds or failing to respond to a claim. We will take those insurance companies on and pursue the damages you deserve.
What will my case cost me?
Most personal injury firms, including Garber Law, P.C., handle cases on a contingency fee basis. That means you pay nothing upfront, and only pay attorney’s fees if we recover money for you. We take a percentage of the recovered amount to pay for our costs and fees, and the rest goes to you. There is no cost to discuss your case with us.
What if my accident happened while I was working?
Anytime you are injured at work, you should file a workers’ compensation claim. This is different from a personal injury lawsuit. In some situations, you may be able to pursue both types of claims. We can help you understand the best path forward for your situation.
